To visit some parts of Sikkim like Gangtok, Nathula Pass, and North Sikkim, travelers need special permits.
Indian travelers must carry an Inner Line Permit (ILP).
Foreign travelers need a Protected Area Permit (PAP).
These permits can be obtained through the Sikkim Tourism Department or licensed tour operators.
All travelers planning a trip to Sikkim must register on the Sikkim Tourism App, which is available on both the Play Store and App Store. This registration is mandatory for entry.
To generate an e-invite on the app, travelers must book a minimum stay of two nights. The stay can be in a hotel, homestay, or guest house. Travelers also need to submit their complete travel plan or itinerary during registration.
While visiting monasteries, temples, and religious places, respect the local culture and traditions. Wear modest clothing, cover shoulders and knees, and remove your shoes before entering religious sites. Always ask permission before taking photos, especially of monks or religious items.
